My ivory plea to MP

HERE we publish an edited version of ATG reader Ian Harris’ letter to Nicholas Gibb, Conservative MP for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, written ahead of a government consultation on the UK ivory trade. It follows BADA president Victoria Borwick MP’s (right) call at ATG’s Seminar on CITES (ATG No 2276) for dealers and auctioneers to contact their MPs to defend the legal trade in pre-1947 ivory.
