Running from June 14-16, the fully booked event hosts a number of furniture specialists such as Dales Antiques, which offers a stickback Windsor chair from c.1800 for £2950.

Dealer Leonard Handley of Dales says: “This chair is not only very comfortable but has clearly been loved for more than 200 years.”

The Kirby Lonsdale firm also offers farmhouse tables, chests, cupboards, decorative pieces and Delft pottery.

Also exhibiting is Mike Melody Antiques, a familiar face at the event for more than 10 years, who brings farmhouse dressers, tables, sets of chairs and more, as well as Mark Buckley Antiques offering fine Victorian and Edwardian ‘town’ furniture.

Joining for the first time is Peter Bunting Antiques, which sells early oak and country pieces.

“We’ve got a wider range of antique furniture now than for years,” says fair organiser Sue Ede of Cooper Events.

Dealer Billy Cook of Cooks of Marlborough with a vintage US naval flag from the USS New York. The 13-star flag is made from wool bunting and is of a type used by the US Navy in the 19th century and known as a ‘boat flag’. The stars on the US flag represent the number of states in the union and though the number was far higher on standard banners by this point, the 13 used here, representing the original states, gave the smaller flags greater visibility. It is offered for £9850.

One new exhibitor, Jacksons Antique, joins the ranks, while returning dealers include Bottlebrook Antiques, Chester’s Farm Gallery, Ellis Fine Art and Garret & Hurst Sculpture.

Ede says that the fair is now “the leading event of its kind in the north of England. Our exhibitors are from the top level of dealers who exhibit in the UK. We are looking forward to a busy three days.”
