Set in the valley of the River Till, close to Berwick-on-Tweed, the adjoining estates comprise 13,000 acres centred around the villages of Ford and Etal where two antiques businesses can be found.

Formerly the Ford estate’s dairy farm, The Old Dairy is owned by Lynne and Keith Allan and offers a barn and stables full of antique furniture and decorative pieces plus the added attraction of an outdoor champagne bar with views across to the Cheviot Hills.

“We’ve been in business at The Old Dairy for 15 years,” says Keith, “and our antiques customers are quite varied - both local and visitors - some of whom also come for Lynne’s award-winning marmalade which is now sold in Fortnum and Mason.

“Pre-pandemic we did have 12 dealers here but now it’s down to five. Furniture does well, tea tables and linen presses especially plus Arts & Crafts pieces as well as architectural antiques.”
